A Look at Early Film

A Look at Early Film

Logline- A documentary looking at early film and why it’s still important a century later.

Opening Scene-Begins with The Horse in Motion and talks about how the early age of film is often forgotten about. This section sets the mood for the rest of the piece and describes what will happen throughout the film.

Pt. 1—Looks at the films of the Lumiere Brothers, like Workers Leaving The Factory and The Arrival of a Train. This section focuses on how the Lumiere Brothers used their films to show a new perspective of life, one that was completely new for the time.

Pt. 2- Looks at the films of Georges Milies like A Trip to The Moon. This section focuses on how Milies used his films to take viewers to brand-new worlds not seen in motion before. This section also describes his influence on the sci-fi/fantasy genres.

Pt 3- Looks at Edwin S. Porter and The Great Train Robbery. This section focuses on how Porter helped create the western genre and built interest in film in America (Which wasn’t too interested at the time).

Final Scene- A quick retrospective looking at how the films discussed in the documentary are important. This section also gives a brief description of what is to come within the next few years of early film and how even a century later, these films still matter.
